Catching Up

When I went to University I had a wonderful close friend who I lived with in halls who I kept in touch with for years after, but somehow we lost touch 8 years ago, down to geography, difficult personal times and general life. I've thought about her a lot over the years and decided in august that I would set about finding out where she was and make contact. I used the usual Facebook, Myspace and Google but nothing came up under her name. I'd had an email from Friends Reunited a few days before from a man who I didn't recognise and for some reason I decided to try the website to see if I could find her. When I logged on and read that message it was from her husband's account and it was her finding me!!!

We've exchanged lots of emails and spoken on the phone and this weekend I drove up to see her and her husband and 15 month old son (who I now adore) in the Lake District, and we had such a lovely time! We chatted about old times, laughed at old photos, caught up on new ones, shared the last 8 years and ate and drank and generally had a really chilled out weekend. It felt like we'd never been apart.

Spooky things have happened though. There's that email, then we both have the same first and middle names and we found out that our babies were born at exactly 6.26am! I believe in fate and I am so glad we are back in touch. Thanks Nic for a wonderful weekend. I've missed you loads and I know we'll never lose touch again. I'm so glad you're back in my life, and although we have missed out on some important things, the future is bright! Good luck next week, and you know I have all my fingers and toes crossed for you in the coming months. See you soon xxxxx

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!

Oh my goodness! I woke up yesterday, opened the blind and was greeted by a blanket of snow outside! What a shock! How come snow always falls overnight? Or it always seems to. The back garden looked so beautiful, but P had the day off school luckily, so we went out and built a snowman and the quality of the snow was fab!

It was that really great snow that makes good snowballs and sticks together really easily, so our snownman was big! He had a spent firework for his nose, fluffy fabric balls for his eyes and a pipecleaner mouth. He got adorned with Charlie's leopardskin blanket from one of his beds, and my hat (which I'll be looking all over for in a few days) and looked brilliant!

Charlie didn't know what to make of it and it took him ages to jump over the fence when I let him outside!


I've been making lots of jewellery for my shoot in a couple of weeks for my website. I've started with the earrings and done some necklaces and I need to do bracelets and hairpins, followed by the tiaras. I'm trying to do sets which can be purchased altogether, or as seperates to give customers a choice, and also when shooting allows my photographer to photograph a lot of items in one shot to save time and post shoot editing later. I've really enjoyed what I've done so far and I'm back in my groove!



I spoke to my friend Nic tonight. We lived together in Cardiff in my first year at University and lost touch 8 years ago. So much has happened in both of our lives since then and I'm so glad we found eachother again through Friends Reunited. I'm going to visit her at the end of the month and I can't wait to catch up over old photos and a bottle or two of wine in the Lake District where she lives now. We were such good friends and I feel that some good karma is here with us and we won't lose touch again. I'm a big believer that people are in or out of your life for a reason, and sometimes you're not sure what that reason is at the time and it only becomes clear later, or maybe not at all, but I'm sure fate plays a big part in my life and the path it takes.

Friends and Fowl

We eventually got to take P to Slimbridge on friday. It's the end of the school holidays and I've never been so seeing as it was the only decent day last week we risked it and I'm so glad we did. We had such a lovely day. There are so many wild ducks, swans, geese and other gorgeous fowl there and we had a fab picnic (thanks mom and dad) and we all loved it. The best bit is that you get grain and can feed the birds too if they (and you) are brave enough, so that's what we did! I even fed a black swan.


I've been sewing some heart brooches and trying to generally keep things tidy, and I've got most of my order for my sister's tiara in now so I can start to make that soon. I've also had an order for some flower hairpins from my friend Jo who is being a bridesmaid in Australia to her sister-in-law on the same day I am a bridesmaid to my sister so I might make those tonight and ship them to her so she can look at her sparklies before the big day.

The best thing about today though was that I met up with one of my old university friends who i lived with for 2 years when I studied in Cardiff. We lost touch about 10 years ago and then found eachother through Facebook last year. We worked out that it has been 12 years since we've seen eachother and we went for lunch and laughed about the good old days and reminisced over old photos and people.

The strangest thing happened then though. We were friends with another girl we lost touch with about 10 years ago and were determined we would find her one way or another. When I got home I decided to look on Friends Reunited and she's sent me a mail earlier this month saying she had been looking for me too! How strange that I should find both my old friends on the same day. I'm feeling all nostalgic and happy tonight and so glad that some lovely people have come back into my life recently. That means you too, R... :)
